Privacy Statement and Access to Information
This Privacy Statement explains how Hosmed obtains, uses and discloses your personal information, in accordance with the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information Act (“POPIA”).
POPIA is shorthand for the Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013. Signed into law on November 19, 2013. In essence, POPIA applies conditions for the lawful processing of personal data of South Africans (both South African citizens and those living in South Africa). All private and public entities are expected to be compliant with the Act from 1 July 2021.
PAIA is shorthand for Promotion of Access to Information Act. The Act gives effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by the public body or private body and that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights. Section 51(1) of the Act requires heads of a private body to compile a manual that must contain information regarding the subjects and categories of records held by such private bodies.
Hosmed meets the definition of a private body and has thus compiled the above Manual in accordance with the said provisions and to fulfil the requirements of the Act.
